ACT Project | An Overview
The Action for Paid Childcare Sector Transformation (ACT) project is a four-year initiative funded by Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and led by World University Service of Canada (WUSC) in partnership with local organizations in Kenya and Malawi.
ACT works to strengthen the paid childcare sector by improving working conditions, professionalizing the workforce, and advancing women's economic empowerment.

To enhance the protection and promotion of the rights and needs of women and girls engaged in paid childcare by:
Recognizing the value of paid care work
Responding to the rights and needs of paid childcare workers
Ensuring paid childcare workers are represented and have a voice

The project focuses on five interconnected areas:
Strengthening childcare provider networks and coordination.
Supporting gender-responsive childcare policies through government engagemen. Professionalizing the childcare workforce through improved training systems.
Promoting accountability to protect the rights of women childcare providers.
Improving access to financial and business services for women in the childcare sector.
